We had a fantastic day at Koksilah Grove, located in Cowichan Tribes territory, with an incredible group of youth from the Intercultural Association (ICA).

Together, we spent the day maintaining hiking trails & learning about #oldgrowth #forest ecosystems. A huge thank you to the ICA youth!

The premier's criticism of Smith's pipeline idea is undercut by his own governments massive subsidization of and sweetheart deals for LNG pipelines and terminals.

Fossil fuel subsidies and environment-wrecking projects are bad and shouldn't be part of our future, period. #bcpoli

BC is leading 🇨🇦 with major opportunities to deliver prosperity to all of Canada.

We have billions worth of private sector & First Nations led projects, that are ready to go and will create thousands of jobs.

Alberta’s fictional bitumen pipeline achieves none of these things.

We joined hereditary leaders from Wet’suwet’en and Gitxsan, the City of Victoria and Stand.earth to speak at a press conference to kick off the fall session of the BC Legislature.
We’re calling for respect for First Nations rights and title and real climate action, not more subsidies for polluters.

While talks of a ceasefire swirl, Israel continues to kill Palestinians relentlessly, without comment from a western media that has helped frame this daily slaughter as normal.

Totally. The California’s are big and powerful in their own right, but the stellers are just so huge. It’s neat that they share the same dock too —they occasionally trade barks and snarls, but other than that stay out of each other’s affairs.

Took my kid down to visit our grouchiest neighbours after school pick up yesterday.

These things are absolute units, with horrific breath and even worse attitudes. I love them.
My kid Nina looking at some big chonky stellar sea lions at the marina near our home. BIG stellar sea lions getting in each others grills at the marina near our home. An absolute unit of a stellar sea lion, basically Jabba the Hut of the ocean, at the marina near our home. A little further down the same dock, a big group of California sea lions laying on the dock and screaming about their grievances. The two species trade calls, but don’t really mess with each other other than that.

People clapped and she gracefully blushed and smiled at me. I got back to my talk, and at the end of the action she drifted away so as to not take away attention from what we were doing.

RIP to a very humble legend.

I was bombing, and needed an out, and the only move I could think of was 100% honesty. I said “I’m sorry everyone, I’m feeling flustered because one of my childhood heroes and conservation icon Dr. Jane Goodall is right here, and I just need to pause and say thank you for everything.”

In 2015 I was speaking at a demonstration at the COP21 climate summit in Paris, and an elderly couple walked up and joined the crowd that was listening. I recognized Jane Goodall, and immediately froze and couldn’t talk.

This is exciting news, and good for the NDP. The conversation between progressive activism (represented by the Lewis campaign) and old-school big labour is long overdue for the left here.

Yep, after all the progressive talk, he’s turned out to be just a 6’7 Christy Clark, nothing more

it feels a little on the nose for logging industry lobbyists to look this much like mobsters intimidating a public official into delivering favours lol
A post from the Truckloggers Association celebrating an announcement of pro-corporate policies from B.C.’s Minister of Forests. It includes a picture of four men (all with goatees?!?) in a range of business, business-casual and hitman attire, standing in classic mobster stances.

The BC NDP government accepted all 14 recommendations of the Old Growth Strategic Review in 2020.

To date zero of the 14 have been implemented.

This government is almost as good at releasing reports as logging corporations are at destroying non-renewable old-growth forests. #bcpoli

2/3: It produced 54 recommendations. We’re adopting them all.

Giving BCTS the tools to navigate this crossroads and deliver for people.

We’re expanding its mandate to build resilient communities, to work with First Nations, to support value-added and to get logs to mills.

It’s #NationalForestWeek, but whose story do we believe? The Canadian government, or the reality on the ground?

Clearcutting is still business as usual. Biodiversity is collapsing. It’s time we stop calling this sustainable. #cdnpoli

No jurisdiction that still allows clearcutting of its last 1000 year-old trees will have a forest sector that is resilient, innovative or sustainable.
