Drove by Friday to see how things are going at my lightrail station that opens in 2 FREAKInG WEEKS. It now has some landscaping instead of lots of earth movers!!!

If you’re in the greater seattle area on December 6th the new extension line opens at 11am.

Install day went well. Can’t wait to see this without all the ladders and lift and install chaos. But it’s out of my house and hung so yayyyyy!

This is what one tier (out of three that stack) will hang like. The back of the Tyvek did get glazed after this hanging system test.

Just finished trimming 9 banners for the piece I’m making for the Cornish staff show that opens Friday the 14th at The Behnke Family Gallery across the street from Cornish on the corner of Boren and Lenora. Opening is 4:30-7 pm if you’re in the Denny Regrade area of Seattle (South Lake Union)

This week has been all about getting these triangle frames cut, sanded and stained to hang the screen printed banners I’m putting in the Cornish staff show. Not shown is the pile of airline cable, wire snips, turnbuckles, eye bolts, quick links and crimps accumulating to assemble the hanging system.

Been layering tons of layers of screen print on 10 long sheets of Tyvek for an upcoming piece in the Cornish staff show. Today’s fishes were two silvery blues to start getting some shimmer into the piece. I think I’ve lost track of how many sessions these are at now.

Had no spoons today so I cooked a big pot of potato leek soup and made a kitchen scrap stock. Also baked a peach to eat with cardamom ice cream. Did lie down a lot today in between tasks.

Just got the official confirmation that the Sound Transit light rail station my sibling Eroyn and I designed these two pieces for will be opening December 6th! So excited to finally see the second breezeway piece without all the protective film on the panels!

Potato. Tomato. Potato.

Here’s mine. It does take more rope than you’d think! I think I got 3-4 of the small spools at the hardware to do 10’.

Wear gloves (glue + rope burn = no fun). And just do a little bit clamping as you go let it dry for 12 hours or so then do a little bit more. Saves your hands and clamps.

Did some harvesting today before it got too hot. These potatoes are called huckleberry and they’re bred for diabetics. And these tomatoes were some of the ones my mom dropped starts of off in the spring (yellow are Dr Carolyn. Red 🤷‍♀️)

Ooooh okay so this could go well because there is a Time Machine involved or very bad because I know how they feel about resetting time to save an individual.

This is very good!

Also because fuck a paywall and fuck the NYT if you wanna make it here’s the printout my friend made. Excuse the corn juice on it…

Why is it that the only good thing that paper does lately is recipes?

Trying really hard not to be impatient about my crumble I’m in the final stages of cooking but I want it out noooowwww. It’s blackberry and the crust is cornmeal and fresh corn crumbles and corn milk and I cannot wait to try it.

My commuting hat is done! Cleaned the crap out of my sewing machine, had to get new baby crane scissors and really struggled outside my skill set for a few days. But I tested for driving around today and it’s fantastic for blocking the light where my visor won’t reach. Ready for school to start up!

Yup. They’re such good murder mittens. She also has a lil’ eyepatch that helped name her Scallywag (also a broken tail that flops around for the last few inches, really want to know her rogue origin story as a street kitten) she does not sit still often for photos so here’s some subpar ones.

Went back today to take more shots of Ai WeiWei’s odyssey wallpaper at the Seattle Art Museum since none of the books had detail shots and that piece is so freaking moving. Really glad I did because I completely missed some spots. It’s up till first week of sept if you’re in the region! Do not miss!

Really glad I got to see this piece in person and already planning a trip back to the Seattle Art Museum because none of the books had detail shots of this amazing wallpaper piece by Ai Weiwei called odyssey. It seemed so timely give what’s going on. Show tag info is in the alt text!

Almost done getting the public works images sorted for my new website. The Firebird from 2012 was my first installation that told a full folk tale and had scene changes.

Revisiting 24 Toe Screen form 2018 while preping images for my website redesign. This piece was made for Bellwether 18 and was a companion piece for a dragon sculpture on loan from Wing Luke Museum. This piece lives in Bellevue City Hall’s permanent collection.

It’s almost that time of year. Where for a week my neighborhood gets dive bombed by very expensive war planes. Really hope I live to see a day they shut this shit down but it’s probably not happening anytime soon. More info in the alt text #fucktheblueangels

One of the potato plants died so I pulled up all these fingerlings. Pretty good for a single sprouted grocery store potato!
