Installation of Gather for Sound Transit’s Starlake Station. Created by Tory and Eroyn Franklin 2024
Drove by Friday to see how things are going at my lightrail station that opens in 2 FREAKInG WEEKS. It now has some landscaping instead of lots of earth movers!!!

If you’re in the greater seattle area on December 6th the new extension line opens at 11am.

Not only is this an amazing story I now understand the protagonists in the InCryptid series Sooooooooo much more and this just prompted a re-listen.
Because people keep asking, the Story of The Lizard In That Dude's Leg. Some caveats:

1. This happened more than twenty years ago. There are no pictures. There was a small article in a local paper with, again, no pictures (I'm assuming that's what the producers of 9-1-1: LONE STAR found).

I had dropped print due to working large and the cost of copper plates. Was working at an art supply with a shitty owner so F’d off as much as possible. Read a screen print book cover to cover on the clock. Used my heafty discount to try it. 25 years later it’s in almost everything I make.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Zohran Mamdani says that New York City stands with Starbucks employees!

He points out their CEO made 96 billion last year.

That’s 6,666 times the median Starbucks worker salary.

Boycott Starbucks. Support the workers. Demand they receive a living wage.

Womp womp. Just found out that Gods Junk Drawer by Peter Clines is delayed until January. Got all ready to download and boom no book. Looks like I’m listening to something else while I print this edition.

Install day went well. Can’t wait to see this without all the ladders and lift and install chaos. But it’s out of my house and hung so yayyyyy!

Really glad that there was a sale on brioche sandwich bread because that makes a damn fine grilled cheese….both my close grocery stores this week are having big sales on staples to try and get people to stretch their buck. haven’t seen sliced cheese under a buck all pandemmy.

This is what one tier (out of three that stack) will hang like. The back of the Tyvek did get glazed after this hanging system test.

Just finished trimming 9 banners for the piece I’m making for the Cornish staff show that opens Friday the 14th at The Behnke Family Gallery across the street from Cornish on the corner of Boren and Lenora. Opening is 4:30-7 pm if you’re in the Denny Regrade area of Seattle (South Lake Union)

A thing about the weird right wing reaction to masking for covid is like, you realize that even if your risk of death dropped with vaccination…not everyone has a low risk, right? And the people who are at a higher risk are the ones masking? So you’re just..haranguing people in danger?

This week has been all about getting these triangle frames cut, sanded and stained to hang the screen printed banners I’m putting in the Cornish staff show. Not shown is the pile of airline cable, wire snips, turnbuckles, eye bolts, quick links and crimps accumulating to assemble the hanging system.

I love Portland, so much.
Y’all here is a fun fact: Portland has a brand new volunteer organization called “operation inflation” that allows people to borrow inflatable costumes for protests. They just started a couple weeks ago and have like a 160 costume library (and counting because people keep donating).

I'm extremely resentful of Louis XIV. That motherfucker had a lawn and so now everyone has a goddamn lawn and we waste so much money, land, water and poison just to have lawns. Because of Louis XIV. Fuck that guy. The French aristocracy would have fallen because of anger about lawns eventually.

Been layering tons of layers of screen print on 10 long sheets of Tyvek for an upcoming piece in the Cornish staff show. Today’s fishes were two silvery blues to start getting some shimmer into the piece. I think I’ve lost track of how many sessions these are at now.

At my university computer lab when the networked printer would not work for any reason, the last resort was the Happy Printer Dance. This was on the resolution checklist, and was an actual dance the techs were taught. I saw them do it twice “to make the printer happy again.” It worked both times.
all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

I will never forget the story of “Cara”, a 16 year old who was bullied into removing her mask at school.

Staff and kids bullied her.

Her mom was immunocompromised and undergoing chemo, and Cara was trying to protect her.

She caught Covid & her Mom died.

We must be better than this.
Children must NEVER choose between EDUCATION and LIVES.

Both are human rights.
