I would be willing to bet that over the long-term its the e-bike which will be seen as the more impactful product than EVs.
The development over the last 10 years in the e-bike sector is stunning - and so far without the enshittification which can be seen in cars (subscriptions, data mining, etc.)

Mini-grids and household solar solutions now account for more than half of all new electricity connections in sub-Saharan Africa.

The region is leapfrogging the traditional, centralised electrification model.

Congratulations to Isar Aerospace!
Clearing the tower is a great milestone. And some amazing pictures with the ice and snow backdrop.
Now it‘s all about launching again as soon as possible.

Would fusion be the first hard science problem which is solved by VC backed companies?
Previously public funding often did the heavy science lifting (eg transistors, internet)& private companies industrialized it. Fusion has VC funding but still has to show it actually works.

I am excited about this, especially as it comes in the same week as Isar Aerospaces first launch attempt (next window opens tmrw). And it looks like some serious funding and prior experience is not strong selection criteria which hopefully boosts startups.
We need many more launchers in Europe.

I like the momentum Paris has to pedestrianize its inner city. I will have to visit again soon and am curious to see the development of its air quality numbers.
Although 4% turnout is super low and surprising given that this is such a big political topic in other places.

Authorities in the French capital are aiming to create green spaces instead of hundreds of roads. Residents backed the project in a referendum marked by a historically low voter turnout.

This could have big effects on the German / European economy: A new 500bn EUR fund was approved last week. Happy to hear the Greens used their leverage to get 100bn EUR earmarked for renewables / climate related projects.
I hope other EU countries will do the same.

It´s sad to see Meyer Burger continuing to struggle. I´ve lived near their HQ in Switzerland (interviewed there years ago) and been following their drive for PV production in Europe. We should have more PV manufacturing capacity in Europe for the domestic market. www.pv-magazine.com/2024/11/18/m...

Impressive to see the rise of solar+storage in Australia over the last years- they seem to have a full pipeline of grid-storage projects. Blythe battery (footprint 350m x 150m, 238.5 MW and 477 MWh) in SA just being commissioned. I hope we see more in Europe too! reneweconomy.com.au/south-austra...

This is such a cool platform. I really like the use of filled circles to show current capacity levels.
Sad to see a brand new 1.1GW wind farm being switched off most of this very windy weekend when it should be generating at near full capacity.

Space based solar power: This is still at a low TLR stage, and such a long list of open q‘s (transmission, public acceptance, launch costs, service life,….). But would be amazing to see. And 10x lower launch costs will hopefully spawn more such ideas soon.

The @iea.org report came out in October of this year already but remains a good read (even if just the executive summary).

What struck me is that solar PV will be the main driver of renewables, making up 80% of added RE capacity globally.
