This allows all leaves access to sunlight, and protect the tree from excessive wind

Midsummer/ Gwyl Ifan Ganol Haf is approaching 🌻☀️✨️. One of my favourite things to do is watch Chesters Midsummer parade, a festival that has stood the test of time for well over 500 years & celebrates the beautiful traditions, mythical characters & history of the place. #witchsky #pagansky #folklore

Bees are sacred to Apollo, and honey has been offered to the gods for three thousand years, since the days of Mycenae. The Oracle at Delphi was offered honey and said to be a Bee, bringing prophecy down from Apollo; apiaries were connected to the god as well. #FairyTaleTuesday

Why does the moon hold such powerful sway over our perception of modern witchcraft? Many goddesses of magic, such as Hekate, Selene, Isis, and Diana, as well as gods like Sin and Saggar, utilize both magic and moonlight in preserved rituals. #FolkloreSunday

In traditional Beltaine celebrations, the last loaf is burnt, on purpose, then left in the wilds. This is a gift to the Cailleach and her husband the Bodach, thanking them for allowing humanity to survive winter, and perhaps asking for a mild winter next year. #FairytaleTuesday

Mike Jerome spotted his first Cuckoo of the year at Pulborough Brooks. We've lost c70% of the population since mid 1990s. The Cuckoo's specialised diet of 'hairy' caterpillars has been in decline thru habitat change & intensive insecticide use.

Very much enjoyed the BBC's latest series of Paranormal focusing on Helen Duncan, who in 1944 became the last person prosecuted under the witchcraft act. Well worth a watch! #witchsky

#TransRightsReadathon starts today! I'm a trans guy who wrote a book about Tarot & politics but it's less stuffy than either of those things & might even give you a shot of hope & inspiration. It's about history, truth telling & taking action (reading Tarot is not the action). Read trans nonfiction!

Scottish witches were said to use Corp Criadhach, or clay corpses, when harming others. The doll, made of clay, would be placed in a moving body of water, preferably under a waterfall, and then fall apart: the intended victim would get sick and die. #WyrdWednesday
