Future for riders is frightening if AC Transit expands hydrogen fleet and they continue to perform so poorly.

At scale, 43% or 64% availability would lead to tons of canceled bus runs.

A few years ago BART experienced similar availability due to rain/wheel flats, and it absolutely wrecked service.

In 2024, AC Transit's hydrogen bus fleet achieved an availability rate of 43% (for the 2018 variety) and 64% (for the 2022 variety). Essentially you need twice as many hydrogen buses as service you want to run actransit.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=...

Huge thanks to @jessearreguin.bsky.social & @scottwiener.bsky.social who championed the bill, as well as our allies in Voices For Public Transportation who helped make the bill as good as we could get. A 5 county funding measure that's purely for transit will be transformative if voters pass it...

Big Bay Area transit win at 1:30am! Legislature passed the bill that'd allow for a regional measure to fund transit & provide significant long-term, consistent transit funding to prevent huge service cuts

After 2 years of pushing for it w/ allies, we're thrilled!
