out: to keep dangerous people out of the ranks. Trump wants them in. Also of course more often than not the mission demands some local or regional goodwill, so this stuff makes the mission harder and longer and endangers more Soldiers.

I have heard this argument but I think there are more significant ways it endangers us. When Gallagher was pardoned, an Army psychologist pointed out to me that the real reason DOD has psychologists is, every murderous psychopath in America wants to be in uniform and part of her job was to keep them

I'm thinking it's like the button on the old monitors that said "degauss" that you had to press once in a while. You put him in the big magnet and then he's OK, his ass has been degaussed.

Right? You watch the absolute shittiest thing, and tell yourself, I will get through this with the class and artistry that he used to get through that.

Because of the "stranded on a desert island" thing, the only right answer is Christopher Walken, who time and time again is a shining light in a crappy movie. His roles remind you that however sucky the situation you find yourself in, you can nonetheless bring your personal best, again and again.

Wait, hold up. Servicemember here. Yeah, Hegseth may have given the order and should go down if he did. But if Bradley executed _this_ order -- yeah, so should he.

Ain't a whole lot of people who had access to those transcripts and would leak 'em, so...

Sort of a more exaggerated case of the same phenomenon, sometimes -- although "Europe Central" is somehow both long and readable - but wow "Dying Grass" is so dense that if I parted with it for a day I was lost, and man it is a hard slog sometimes

Nothing confuses me as much as heating Woz talk about how Jobs was so high-minded and spiritually driven when in fact Jobs was a dick and Woz seems to be reflexively, naturally decent and thoughtful.

Yes, because it's asymmetric. If you argue against the AI's decision and stuff goes bad that will hang on you. If you don't, and stuff goes bad, they'll blame the AI.

Sadly for Murphy, many of those folks _have_ picked a side. The wrong one.

Alternately it's just an extension of the observation that LLMs tend to more highly rate text written by other LLMs: the AI has a preference for writings which only affect, rather than being based in, humanity
