It’s 100% acrylic yarn from a thrift store sweater. I want to make a matching scarf; I have a lot of yarn left.

I dried the seeds from grocery store peppers, sprouted them in plastic bags, & planted them in ¥100 trash bins I drilled holes in.
If I get just two edible peppers, they’ll have paid for themselves.

Usually I’m not a fan of strong bell pepper flavor (I add them for vitamin C) but these are GOOD.

New yarn is expensive but thrift sweaters are cheap. I’m literally getting a sweater’s worth of cotton-blend yarn for ¥300.

My first ever hat, so I’m shocked it turned out this well. I lost count of the knit and perl stitches on the base which is why it looks random. But it’s super comfy, I’m already wearing it around the house.
Yarn was from a thrifted sweater, so it’s recycled as well.

It’s all acrylic and the yarn is coming un-spun, but it’s a cheaper and less wasteful option than buying new yarn.
It was also a really good learning experience.

The rest is just waiting for the yogurt to ferment.
(Someday I will get a secondhand cooler to do this part, but today was not that day.)

It was ¥1100 (about $10) at a kimono thrift store in Tokyo.
It’s definitely a statement piece, if I can figure out what fashion statement to make!

These cotton yukata will become cat toys, pillowcases, wall hangings, door curtains, and anything else I can try to make!
Literal tons of kimono and yukata are thrown away annually. I bought these for ¥300 each at a flea market, and will give them new life in my home.
