I’m starting to think I should have signed up for the N3 test instead of the N4.

The N4 is gonna use a lot of hiragana for kanji that I know ON SIGHT but can’t always remember the pronunciation of, so without that context, I’ll definitely do worse. 😅

You know what I’d love to see from content creators and influencers?

“Today’s video is sponsored by [local business.”

Not “Today’s video is sponsored by [company that ships local goods internationally].”

Find ways to connect viewers with local businesses that are local to them.

Feels like "missing" is inaccurate. This child was kidnapped by the secret police and is now either a political prisoner or a trafficking victim.

America is a country that will test UBI hundreds of times, get the same radically positive results each time, and still look at it askance, but will also put untested robotaxis on the road because a billionaire threw a shit fit.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Every now and then I introduce Tyler to the old shit I grew up with, and sometimes with anime I declare we'll be watching the dub instead of subbed and most of the time Tyler winces and calls me cringe, but with Yu Yu Hakusho we listened to both and they agree the dub is straight up a better show.
Justin Cook's work on Yu Yu Hakusho has always been a highlight to me in terms of great dubs but only now did I learn that he was ADR Director on the show as well the main character and was only 19 when he started.

Generational talent.

About to get my flu shot. Really hoping it doesn’t make my arm hurt. 😣 My last COVID booster hurt so bad they had to give me painkillers for it.

I’ll take that over getting the flu or COVID, though.

Hat #2! The ends roll inward because of the elastic in the yarn, so I flipped the hat inside out to make it look intentionally slouchy.

It’s 100% acrylic yarn from a thrift store sweater. I want to make a matching scarf; I have a lot of yarn left.

The black plate is my new favorite thing. It’s huge and doesn’t fit anywhere I usually keep dishes, but it’s hefty and looks like something from a steak restaurant. I feel ridiculously fancy when I eat off it. 🥰

It was ¥550 bc it’s secondhand.
Best thing I ever did for myself was looking for restaurant supply thrift stores. The secondhand stuff there is way more durable and less over-designed to make it grab a consumer’s attention.

These IKEA jars were ¥550 each and hold a week’s worth of homemade yogurt.

Personally, I think there is a pretty major difference between billionaires able to weaponise their hoards of gold to achieve personal aims, and lots of people getting together to take on the issues they care about.

I love working somewhere which tries to put justice back in the hands of the many.
