Anyone see a pattern emerging 🤔

Local Councils often don't hold key Councillor meetings in August due to the summer holidays and yet Reform are losing Deputy Leaders all over the place???

The bit that get's me? What right does Trump to enter into the discussion regarding Ukrainian sovereignty when he hasn't invited Zelensky?

It's a bit like me selling YOUR home.....without you giving permission!

Are Labour 'fixing the foundations ' or simply kicking the can down the road (once again) in going through Local Government Reorganisation without sorting local government finance? Time will tell, but I don't think any government has grasped the nettle!

Why am I not 😮 surprised Reform are in turmoil?

Someone is going to challenge the legal basis for sharing data with people not elected in their area.

If the data could not be FOI'd (I.e. it's sensitive) then why would anyone allow it to be shared with Reform?

Two thoughts on this....

Can the proceeds be spent to actually improve the infrastructure

And if Planning permission was denied for all the new housing in the South East because the infrastructure was insufficient....suddenly new ways of sorting the problems would be found 🤔

Ofwat fines Thames Water £123m, cites ‘unacceptable’ impact on environment – business live
Thames Water fined nearly £123m, including biggest ever penalty from Ofwat Environment secretary Steve Reed has said the government has launched the toughest crackdown on water companies in history. Last week we announced a record 81 criminal investigations have been launched into water companies. Today Ofwat announce the largest fine ever handed to a water company in history. The era of profiting from failure is over. The Government is cleaning up our rivers, lakes and seas for good. This is a clear-cut case where Thames Water has let down its customers and failed to protect the environment. Our investigation has uncovered a series of failures by the company to build, maintain and operate adequate infrastructure to meet its obligations. The company also failed to come up with an acceptable redress package that would have benefited the environment, so we have imposed a significant financial penalty. We take our responsibility towards the environment very seriously and note that Ofwat acknowledges we have already made progress to address issues raised in the investigation relating to storm overflows. The dividends were declared following a consideration of the Company’s legal and regulatory obligations. 8AM BST: Kantar supermarket numbers 8:55AM BST: German unemployment data 9:30AM BST: ONS working and workless households data Continue reading...

Dear @hantsconnect.bsky.social
Can you explain why you decided to close both the A31 and the A339 on the same day?

Alton is now gridlocked and the roads around are carnage.

God forbid we have an emergency vehicle that needs to get through

Please explain why you decided this was sensible

And my understanding is the Councils cannot decide what reorganisation looks like!

The NHS has 'suffered' from the ability to carry deficits from year to year in a way Local Government was never allowed

This means they've never faced true accountability for overspends at a time when Local Government has faced an 18% reduction in spend per person

My mother is sadly now a Daily Mail reader. She was chuntering about the amount of money spent on DEI initiatives

I asked her what she thought my Council had last focused on, in our DEI awareness training..... she said LGBT+ or trans because of course these are 'dog whistle' issues for the Mail
