Me turning up to Bluesky ready to chat about trikes, inclusive active travel, disability, and my dog Frida.
photo of a white woman with an NJ tube smiling. She is sitting on a cargo trike which has a white toy poodle and a small electric radiator in the front bucket. She is parked in designated cycle parking that has a sign that says 'reserved for disabled cyclists'

Poncho. Rains rain coat and if cold with Patagonia down jacket underneath (Uniqlo have good ones). Doc marten Chelsea boots. I prefer tights to trousers if cycling on rainy days as they dry quicker. Ages ago I saw commute to office trousers somewhere but never tried.

The analysis highlights the importance of neighbourhood in place-based decarbonisation and the value of understanding neighbourhoods in the context of the road and public transport networks they link to and the socio-economic context they inhabit.

Through go-along interviews in LTNs & proposed LTNs in Greater Manchester, we explored the nuances of public opinion, finding commonalities that transcend entrenched positions: aspiration for a better neighbourhood, concerns about unequal outcomes, & shared frustrations over implementation.

Many thanks to Graeme for responding to peer review and making edits whilst I am on maternity leave.

Just us in the middle of it all. The street is changing around us, hang in there while we get some new neighbours. We’ll be here.

New stuff every day, coffee machine on, every day apart from Mondays, all on the website is in stock, ready to go. Happy to help, we love what we do.

Hive mind: can anyone give me some examples of an installed DIAGONAL zebra/parallel crossing? UK only.
Thanks 🙏

Manchester transport strategy: make walking the natural transport choice

Manchester pavements:
Pavement where the right hand side is blocked by large signs (for a vehicle diversion) and with cars parked on the left hand side of the pavement. The pram being pushed would not fit through the gaps between the pram and the cars.

Really well thanks. She's a dream and after nine months of hyperemesis I think I probably get more sleep now!!

Thank you. She's an absolute dream ❤️

One year anniversary of being six weeks pregnant and falling down the stairs and breaking my coccyx on the way to RGS.

Missing the conference again this year but for a much better reason.

And if you work in the physical activity, active travel, and health space in GM, see if you can help support what is an incredibly cost-effective health and wellbeing intervention for an often underserved demographic of women.

So if you're a new mum or mum-to-be in Greater Manchester (or know any), check out the club.

People are kind and welcoming and Becca, who founded WMC, always makes sure to greet new joinees which is a small thing that goes a long way if you're nervous.

And the beauty of the walking setup is that if you're not in the headspace to discuss anything tough that day, you just change your pace and will be welcomed into any other conversation that's happening.

Walking together, side-by-side, is such a special act because whilst we talk about all manner of things, looking forward at the path or down at our babies gives space to share the more difficult to speak about bits of growing, birthing, and nurturing these tiny little humans.

Unsurprisingly perhaps, my favourite maternity leave activity with the baby is joining the Walking Mums Club.

Rain or shine, often both, we meet weekly at our local park, walk together with our babies, and then visit the cafe for coffee.

Bizarre journalism on BBC news.

"A woman has recalled the moment a car smashed into her family's living room - and admitted she had not initially seen what happened due to dust and debris"

Assuming Chat GPT wrote it

How to tell if your bus driver in Manchester is definitely from before the Bee Network:

1. Doesn't lower bus to let you get pram on easily

2. Moves off before you've had a chance to park pram and put on brake

3. Does not brake for speed bumps

4. Close passes cyclists
