I’m excited to announce that after a five-year hiatus, the Pacific Northwest chapter of ComSciCon (@comscicon.bsky.social) is returning with a Spring 2026 conference in Portland, OR. Run by and for grad students, it supports STEM trainees in building science communication skills and community. (1/3)

Human brain cell types shape host-rabies virus transcriptional interactions revealing a preexisting pro-viral astrocyte subpopulation
How virus-host cell interactions and innate immune antagonism shape neurotropic infection dynamics across diverse brain cell types is largely unknown.…

Thrilled to present MIND!

A model for how the sensorimotor–association axis of the neocortex develops.

Huge thanks to the incredible multidisciplinary team who made this happen.

Competing Programs Shape Cortical Sensorimotor-Association Axis Development
The neocortex is organized along a dominant sensorimotor-to-association (S-A) axis, anchored by modality-specific primary sensorimotor areas at one end and transmodal association areas that form distr...

This is me to myself because it's a beautiful sunny day in Portland and I'm stuck inside writing my NRSA grant to submit to a crumbling NIH. Must embrace my inner Uncle Baby Billy.

A core aspect of DEI is providing opportunities to socioeconomically disadvantaged groups, often raised by blue-collar families in small towns. Turning their backs on these individuals further demonstrates that our administration merely feigns compassion and relatability for working-class Americans.
