Spot on. Comprehensive pedestrianisation should be far higher up the agenda in our cities than it is. Nearly wherever cars go, cities get worse. Nearly wherever they’re removed, those urban spaces flourish.
Before & After: I don’t think people realize the extent to which parked cars degrade public space.

Well, I might be a fairly typical left of centre academic. But I agree with @sonia-sodha.bsky.social here. Too many on the left now confuse a right to disagree with someone as a right to try and silence / cancel them. It's a self defeating strategy and won't protect what we value in the long run
It really worries me to see the left increasingly act as if free speech & free expression are right-wing issues/talking points. Put aside your dislike of the people involved & look at the substance rather than come to tribal snap judgments, for the love of god.
