Here's the crux of today's (minor) development. For now, at least until tomorrow, the Oregon guard remains federalized but not deployed.

In the circumstances here, granting an administrative stay will best preserve
the status quo. Prior to the October 4 temporary restraining order, Oregon National
Guard members had been federalized but not deployed. The Memorandum
authorized federalization of the Oregon National Guard members. An
administrative stay of the October 4 temporary restraining order will maintain the
federalization of Oregon National Guard members, because that order prohibits
implementation of the Memorandum. Additionally, the second temporary
restraining order has not been challenged or appealed, and it prohibits the
deployment of National Guard members in Oregon. Thus, the effect of granting an
administrative stay preserves the status quo in which National Guard members

The oddest thing about the Portland case to be argued in the 9th Circuit tomorrow is that DOJ doesn't cite any evidence that Trump ever determined that he was "unable with the regular forces to execute the laws," 10 U.S.C. 12406(3) ... [1]

To be clear, I think oaths are essentially a relic at this point. There was a time when the solemnity invoked by the oath gave emphasis to the seriousness and weight of duty to the country (and to the truth). Those days are clearly over.

Rep. Grijalva should just go to the floor and start voting.

Blind Item: Okay, perhaps the biggest scandal in Portland City Hall right now is that there is at least one City Councilor who claims to be “immune” from cute animal pictures and this Councilor “scrolls past” them on this very Bluesky website.
