Idk if I have a point here besides that I think We Built This City might be a neat song if it didn't sound like complete ass and if the lyrics weren't so terrible. Also, The Buggles are great

But then, The Buggles were a nerdy cutting-edge art rock outfit led by a mega-talented super-producer, whereas Starship was a legacy act past their sell-by date resorting to sickening plastic-y corpo rock to fit in

That song has the same yearning for a prelapsarian musical past as Video Killed The Radio Star, et al. Just that The Buggles were more focused on changes in technology, and Starship was mainly preoccupied by the broader scene of the titular city

I've often remarked on how, when the Buggles joined Yes, they sang about topics Anderson never would have. We Built This City feels like a Buggles song that got left on the stove too long

Trying to imagine Jon Anderson singing lines like "knee-deep in the hoopla" or "marconi plays the mamba" and I'm just not getting there

Back in the day Boss Keys inspired me to replay (almost) every Zelda game and to get around to the ones I'd never played or finished (oracles, spirit tracks) and that was a lot of fun so I do feel very fondly towards the series
