And so the despair comes from 1. A lot of her / their efforts at the FTC failed, and 2. so little recognition for her work, both at large and among the left.

But hopeful because, in SOME dimensions, DOME of the dem‘s problems really are marketing problems!

The FTC during the Biden years that really was radically different from “standard operating procedure”, and trying some big swings thatd hugely help workers.

Actual aggressive efforts at anti-trust work! Ending non-compete “agreements“. Ambitious, useful, in the weeds policy!

If your on the left because you’re worried about individual rights, or minority rights, or sexual and identity rights, if you care about labor organizing and journalism, privacy wrt the govt and corporations is critical

and criticizing Snowden for escaping to Russia, instead of the US govt for effectively promising to say they’ll throw him in jail if he doesn’t go to Russia, is doing some weird gross power bootlicking

the thing he did was (is!) extremely good if you have any interest in privacy (wrt the fed govt, but also the corporations the feds colluded with in building the data collection systems Snowden revealed)

Anyone on the left, anyone who thinks we aught to have any privacy at all wrt the US fed govt should celebrate what Snowden did.

that some of the documents in the leak might have been incorrect, and that he escaped to Russia, might dirty how you think of him as a person.
