Every day the two-child limit pushes 109 children into hunger.

The UK gov PROMISED to end the need for emergency food.

So we're backing@savechildrenuk.bsky.social to greet MPs to the Labour Party Conference with a message they cannot miss. 👀
Save the Children UK have put a campaign message on a huge billboard opposite Liverpool Lime Street to greet MPs as they arrive to the Labour Party Conference. The billboard shows a photo of a child holding up a red rosette with the words 'change' on it. Text on top reads: 'Wasn't the point of winning to lift kids out of poverty? Scrap the two-child limit. Save the Children.'

As they arrive at the Labour Party Conference, we're greeting Keir Starmer and his MPs with a message that demands a screen bigger than 21,000 mobile phones*:

"What was the point of winning the general election if not to lift kids out of poverty?"

Reasons why people have to turn to food banks:

- They don’t have enough money to buy food
- They lost their job or it doesn’t pay enough
- A family member passed away
- They got sick or are disabled
- Their fridge, car, or washing machine broke

Imagine landing an interview for your dream job.

But you don't own a laptop, and you can’t afford internet or phone data – all of which are essential when so many interviews are online.

People receiving Universal Credit are plunged into impossible situations like this every day. It’s not right.

Ending the need for food banks in the UK is possible.

🎤 We asked one of our experts - Research Manager, Alex - to explain how we get there ⤵️

This MP called out a policy that’s hurting kids every day. Why won’t the government act?

🚨 NEW: More than two million households plan to avoid turning on their central heating this winter over fears of soaring energy bills, a new survey has found.

We speak to families across the UK every week who tell us they simply cannot afford to put the heating on.

The price of food and bills have sky-rocketed, but support like Universal Credit isn't keeping up.

People literally don't have enough money to live on, and they're having to turn to food banks just to survive.

This isn't right. And it doesn't have to be this way 💚

🚨 A THIRD of people referred to food banks in our community are in households where someone works.

Paid work is no longer enough to prevent people from needing a food bank...

❗ 14 MILLION people are facing hunger and hardship in the UK. In 2025. In one of the richest countries in the world.

We don’t need more food banks – we need change. Repost if you agree.

Over 14 million people are facing hunger in the UK.

We took this news straight to Parliament, and spoke to politicians, academics and charities about the changes we need to bring this dire number down.

Together, we CAN create a future where no one needs to turn to a food bank to survive.
trusselluk.bsky.social
No one should have to live like this.

In fact, food banks haven’t always been needed in the UK.

The UK government promised to end the need for emergency food. We need them to take more urgent action on this now.
trusselluk.bsky.social
And having a job should mean you can afford food, right?

Nearly 1 in 3 people referred to our food banks are in a household where someone works.

Factory workers, bus drivers, hospitality staff – too many are finding that work alone no longer puts food on the table.

Over 14 MILLION people faced hunger last year.

People from all walks of life – young people, disabled people, working families - are struggling to make ends meet.

Parents are skipping meals. People are sitting in cold, damp homes. Families are terrified of rising bills.

🚨 Hunger in the UK ISN’T about a lack of food.

People are facing hunger because they don’t have enough money to survive. The basic rate of Universal Credit is just £92 a week, disability benefits are being cut, energy bills are going up and rents are sky high.

It’s so wrong🧵
