Back off man, I'm a scientist. Genome size, junk DNA, applied evolution, sci comm, SARS-CoV-2 evolution. Onions have 5x more DNA than you do. He/him.
Aaaaaannnnd... the Washington Post dutifully falls in line. It was Trump's fault but now Canada will regret it.

The Liberals govern like they have a majority that will last forever. It's already back to roughly even (they were massively unpopular before Trump's reelection). Also, no party in Canada's history has ever won five consecutive elections (John A. MacDonald and Wilfred Laurier also each won four).

This is just another absolute own goal by Carney. He showed Canadians that he's willing to be complicit with some truly awful people (Trump, Rubio, Kushner, Blair) in a deeply immoral land theft project *and* he got suckered for his trouble.

The content in question: In the comments on my post criticizing Carney's participation in Trump's "Gaza Peace Board":

Of course, they're rationalizing this. Government is bloated and cuts to the public sector are good actually. Harperism is a-ok when it's Carney doing it.

Minimizers like to point to what they think I said about Mpox in their criticisms. I didn't say it was in schools or circulating more broadly, I said *it would be very bad if it were*, that it is evolving, and that such risks needed to be taken seriously. Anyway...

There is nothing Carney fans won't rationalize.

Thread on the bad site from June 2024, pointing out what already been the pattern for a couple of years by then.

Cue the "pragmatists" and people with "ally" and "progressive" in their bios to rationalize this too.

UN resolution to establish an international day against colonialism in all its forms.

Voted against: USA, Israel

Abstained: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, basically all of Europe, Japan, etc.

Lol. This is exactly how we've ended up with two conservative parties and how we'll end up with a Conservative government soon. Partisan politics melts partisan brains.

Volunteer variant trackers have been watching this one since March, with it popping up around the world throughout November. It's another highly divergent variant (50 spike mutations) that evolved within a chronically infected host.

I recognize that NPC.

*And* progressive voters never forgave him for it.

Reminder just how unpopular the Liberals were. It wasn't because they were too concerned about climate and not focused enough on placating Alberta and helping fossil fuel shareholders.
November 28, 2025 at 4:52 PM
The Liberal party was historically unpopular only a few months before the last election. If you think the reason is that they weren't appeasing the US enough, or were too feminist, or cared too much about climate, or weren't sufficiently militaristic, well, good luck with the next election.

2) This.

Carney is not a "centrist", he's a Harper-era conservative. However, everything has moved so far to the right that he now occupies a supposed "centre".
