Read Erle Stanley Gardner's short story "Danger Zone" yesterday. Written in 1932, it shows a greater understanding of Chinese names than JKR did some 65 years later, and it also explicitly debunked the Inscrutable Oriental trope and attacked people who thought Chinese sounded like gibberish.
