I accidentally wrote something for a Cloudflare worker in Python, and when I realized my mistake ChatGPT one shot rewrote it in Javascript. Was rather impressive.

this is why I only ever fly with my bike, never ship. a flight on Alaska tomorrow would be $500 with a $35 checked bag, with no oversize / overweight fee for a reasonable packing job. And that's for a next-day flight -- a few weeks out and you get $139 on United with no oversize fees for luggage.

I always forget trains in subways can be quiet until I visit other cities, *anywhere* else.

(Can we get the door seals off those extra high level doors they're not using on the Caltrain Stadler and replace the ones on the FotF?)
tsch.uy
well really they should have automated transfer announcements like they bragged they would on the fleet of the future 👀

for those of us unfamiliar (I know the Trader Joe's saga, not the Gaia saga) do you have more context? Is there a theater space or something in Gaia?!

Yesterday I went to an East Bay Regional Parks board study session to encourage them to take a proactive leadership role in getting transit into their parks.

The nearest bus stop is over 1.5mi – the best way to get there was a 7mi bike ride from the nearest BART station.

Access includes meetings!

64.2 acres total, it sounds like – it's a whole campus:

It's a relatively new policy in Oakland. The city pays the difference in cost. Now that Berkeley actually has money for street paving it's probably worth introducing here.

Recently, I spent 2 days walking across Acadia National Park from one end to the other. This was possible due to the presence of public transit, food, and lodging; in/around the park. So for the Boston Globe, I asked, what if this were the norm for more NPS sites?

Acadia’s enchanting trails showed me the key to managing crowds in parks is opening up more spaces to more people.

Oh hey look, I know that guy in blue!

The Transit CEO Ridealong feels like part of a uniquely Bay Area openness in public agencies. I got to chat to so many wonderful agency staff and leaders about transit park access thanks to this wonderful event.

Thank you @bart.gov for making it happen!

Our trip spanned three Bay Area counties and several forms of transit. We loved spending time with riders and fellow transit agencies.

We’re proud we're ending Transit Month strong and we hope to see you all again soon! 👋

Public lands are meant to be enjoyed for generations to come. But staffing shortages, a looming shutdown and historical erasure are endangering the future of our national parks and public lands.

This #NationalPublicLandsDay, safeguard our parks – npca.org/actnow!

I suspect that if you give it a few more years, once it's established as a pattern used in France, it'll become more in vogue elsewhere in the country. Hopefully.

I've actually been seeing a lot of that – the services in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes are slowly following a schedule that's more clock face and fewer weird gaps. It feels like it's been spreading based on the takt that the Léman Express forces in the immediate area around Geneva.

it's nearly Crosstober, the month-long celebration of the Crosstown Trail, Double Cross, and now Roundabout Trails :)

I've just signed up for the October 22nd Southside Ramble following parts of all three -- see you there?

the SF Crosstown Trail folks have done it again! a new Roundabout Trail route traces the perimeter of the city through the Presidio and Lands End, and through places like Fort Funston and Candlestick Point.

as a bonus, the via+amtrak Adirondack service requires all of the fun of boarding Via but with a mandatory paper ticket! truly like the railroading of yore 😍

nearly all of the stations do! I've had great experiences with clean restrooms at Berryessa, Fruitvale, Lafayette, Orinda, Powell, Lake Merritt...

and the $10 sail+rail ticket is one of the best deals in the Bay Area!

For that Novato project, it would then be feasible for the developer to sell the parcel to SMART and then lease back the land for development, if MASCOTS goes through, no?

And notably all of the other East Contra Costa stations require negotiating freeway ramps – a Delta de Anza station wouldn't. It'd instantly become the most human-friendly BART station in the area. It's also next to a dense mobile home park, which should be good for trip generation.
