don't incriminate me in crimes without my consent. what. why. baptist.
In old Baptist liturgies, they'll ring a bell to center everyone before the service fully starts.

Sometimes my Church won't ring the bell, and I have started feeling cheated tbh.

Every commentary I find on Genesis 9 and the administration of government is like: "death penalty is a forever rule - but prohibitions on rare steak is not cause I like blood."

Please help.

people who have nowhere to live are not a "problem." Matthew 25:40 icymi. If a system is not for its people then what use is it? House people who have no place to live. It's the most pressing domestic issue. It should be every working politician's first priority in the richest country ever to exist.

I think an in-house church problem that is actually impacting the whole country on a weird scale is how many Baptists don't know anything about Baptist ecclesiology.

And like, not congregants, like denominational leaders in Baptist denoms and associstions.

I understand - I really do - but when a venue makes their vegetarian meal also their vegan meal and their gluten free meal it means that all the people with only one restriction get just the saddest food

sometimes it just gets used whenever anybody thinks that the fact that the bible says something matters at all. the objection is not that scripture is being misused, but that it is being used. not that it is being taken out of context, but that it is being taken as significant
thinking today about how the phrase "proof texting" gets used to cover a range of things that differ significantly from each other

only sometimes is it used to talk about taking a small section out of its context, or ignoring other scriptures that stand in tension with is

Ravenloft update: we killed Strahd, first run of the module, never thought it would happen. My head has never been bigger maybe ever.

Online Christian discourse lately just seems like a lot of Protestants blaming communities they are not in for all of the problems of the world.

Because someone has to scape the goat, so why not us I guess - ?

I think I have fallen in love with the AD&D Cleric. It is just so effective as a support class AND is solid in combat. Their spells naturally stack, they have great abilities; just a lovely class all around.

Idk if 5e Clerics have the same grit and capability tbh.

Update on Ravenloft: the oneshot has inevitably extended beyond one night. But we have kept our whole party alive so far, which I am proud of - and we have the implements of Strahd's doom in hand (I think).

AD&D is crazy cause a wizard can teleport fricken 100 miles at level 3, but has 5 HP and could die of cat scratches.

My wife is running AD&D Ravenloft tonight. She has made it quite clear that she expects an unavoidable TPK in the secord or third hour.

Wish me luck.🛡🗡... 🎲

My pastor asked me "how cold is too cold before we cancel church soccer?" I got the sense from his fits of shocked laughter that "10 to 15 degrees" was not what he was looking for.

Sometimes the evangelical church feels like a money operation with spiritual justifications and pick-me "entrepaneurs" who found a really easy thing to sell.

I mean this for both Consv. and Prog. Ev, cause I don't see many of either in poor communities.

Every once and a while, I get super obsessed with a meme format. I make like 10 inside-baseball religious memes that are, at best, 2/5 star funny, sit on them for a week and then delete them all.
