I'm making music! You're ignorant! (He/him)
AI is only "the most important new issue" because big tech keeps insisting it is and forcing it into the discourse (and every damn piece of software). In 5 years, once this bubble has burst, no one will ever mention it.

So was "disco sucks." People were wrong then, too.

I'm interested in that movie mostly as an examination of Steph Curry's insecurities. Seriously, one of the most succesful and accomplished basketball players on the planet still needs to produce a multi-million dollar movie where his fursona is being picked on for being too short.

It's also funny how this show would never work in the PWHL.

"We can't let anyone know about this!"
"Why not? Your captain is literally on the same line with her wife."

I'm just picturing Jacob Tierney calling up Gary Bettman and trying to get his approval for official NHL branding on his sexually explicit Sidney Crosby/Alex Ovechkin slash fic...

But seriously, it's really funny how they can't use any actual NHL stuff in the show, so all the team names and logos are weird expys of the real ones; plus the league is called "Major League Hockey," which is what that weird scam/money laundering thing from a few years ago was called.

Well, I wouldn't know, I haven't seen anything from Prometheus onwards.

I stand by it. I don't particularly like James Cameron to begin with, and turning Alien to a generic 80s action movie is a tonal shift I can't get behind. That said, killing Newt at the beginning of 3 is a massive blunder that it never recovers from, even if it's more tonally consistent with Alien.

Of the original 4 Alien movies, I would rank this just behind the original, and I am 100% sincere about that. Alien: Resurrection is a good movie that is good on purpose.

The last film was Israeli/Georgian drama "Nandauri." An Israeli lawyer (of Georgian ethnicity) goes back to her birth country on behalf of a client, a woman who left her family and son behind, and connects with her client's brother. Somewhat dry, but carried by strong performances from the 2 leads.

The last movie for today was "After Lucìa" (2012): Mexican teenage girl gets put through hell after an intimate video of hers gets spread around school in this tough drama that builds tension and frustration through minimal camerawork. The main character's passivity pushes the bounds of credulity.

Second movie for today was "Blowup": a fashion photographer gets involved in a murder plot in Antonioni's first English-language film. Fittingly, a movie that tells its story mostly through visuals, with a dreamy atmosphere and great music by HERBERT Hancock and The Yardbirds.

So, correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't read it), but doesn't the original Wicked book already cover Elpheba's childhood?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's literal entire function in the movie is "explain the plot as it is happening."

I mean, true, but counterpoint: floozy is a great word and more people should use it.

Now this is the kind of niche reference I can get behind.

Though to be fair, most of the time when she's playing his mother, her face is covered with a veil or something. I knew this coming in, but if I didn't, I don't think I would have picked up on it.

Watch out, they're gonna be flooding your comments now.

Alt: A gif from the movie "Superman" (2025): many monkeys at many keyboards typing rude comments.

For the record, he's done a LOT worse things.
a man with a beard and mustache is smiling while standing on a ice rink .
Alt: Mike Myers in "The Love Guru" grinning like a maniac and pointing at you while standing on a hockey rink.
