Been doing some reading on about what researchers have said about the effectiveness of protest music against authoritarianism.

Found a gem of an article about music videos in the June 2013 protests in Turkey, but I'm still not sure what this graph is trying to say about a guitar riff!
A "Guitar riff" graph in an article showing "Notes on Scale" positively correlating with "Melody." The following text is visible on the page: During this riff, a distorted guitar is upfront in the hierarchy of sound. This is unlike the rest of the song where the traditional Karadeniz fiddle is foregrounded. Distorted guitar sounds are associated with heavy metal, a genre with its own connotations of danger and menace. Together, melody, tempo and instrumentation connote danger and menace while visuals and lyrics make clear its source is the government and police. Chaos is also connoted in musical sounds further articulating a dangerous elite, but also the fun and power of a protesting people. This is notable in melodic, tempo and instrument choices made in the instrumental bridges played between verses and choruses. Graph two represents the first half of the bridge, the second following a similar pattern. Notes are no longer constrained as seen in the opening

So should the Boss EQ-200 be banned? The primary UI is still physical but the whole premise of it requires a screen to show you the actual applied EQ settings when using memory presets.

I don't want screens on compressors or overdrives, but I also don't want to keep EQ settings in my head
Boss EQ-200 pedal. There are sliders for various frequency bands, and below it, a screen indicates the actual current settings (which can be from a preset and not the actual physical slider values)

Oooh that must've been a great show! I saw them a few times and agree with you about his playing. Always fun with the improvisation.

This plugin from Neural DSP seems very much designed to get that stereo sound; the killer feature is letting you run 3 of John's amps in parallel.
