The wandering military historian

My thanks to Zac Coles for sharing these images of the German occupation of Thessaloniki in 1941. A fateful event for the city's 56,000 strong Jewish population.

The impressive Byzantine Rotunda of Galerius in Thessaloniki was once joined to the Arch of Galerius and formed part of a complex built in the 4th Century AD.

Here's some more incredible architecture in Thessaloniki. The Roman Arch of Galerius commemorating the Battle of Satala - Despite the erosion the detail on the soldiers is quite remarkable.

At the recent conference it was very nice to receive personally signed copies from my fellow authors - the Churchill pocket handkerchief was also a rather nice touch from the sponsors. I shall definitely be using that in the future.

Nazi Hunters

Well making good progress at the coalface. Have started writing chapter 9 looking at Operation Damocles, initiated by Mossad chief Isser Harel to kill Egypt's rocket programme using German V-2 scientists. It's very public unmasking cost him his job but succeeded.
