When you find yourself experiencing a cartoon flattening, the solution to re-achieve 3D shape is a cartoon air pump, albeit that comes with its own potential complications...
A flattened man has an air pump placed in his mouth while magically summoned gloved ghost hands operate the pump. The man begins to inflate back to his proper dimensions, relieving him. The hands keep going past his proper state though, inflating his muscles and bulge to cartoonish proportions. He pulls the pump from his mouth with some difficulty and tells the hands that's enough.
