What kills mutual aid projects is ambition: the entrepeneurial instinct to "scale up", to "have a bigger impact".

Keep it small, keep it local, keep your circle tight, make sure the makeup of your group looks like the community you work with.

It's not a non-profit. Success looks different.

If you're interested please fill out their application! She is very small and cute, but I don't know how much more time I can spend revolving my time around this cat. She needs someone who can dedicate the time she needs!

I also got through half the essay. I had some similar experiences and it's funny how people can come away with different interpretations. All the experiences in that essay come off awful to me and I see lots of those adults as equally irresponsible.

Formalized moderation, yea. But I don't think this is safe in random discord server or message boards run by well meaning but ignorant adults. A lot of discord servers I'm in rn aren't even moderated correctly for adults!

I'm sorry but my experience was the exact opposite.

No matter what space I was in, there was always an adult there to be inappropriate to me or my friends. A lot of bad stuff happened from interacting with adults and that's why I feel really uncomfortable with it.
