I have a huge backlog of art which I haven't posted here yet, so I'm going to do that. Going to make this a thread. Starting with some of my more political paintings.
Painting of a boy huddled in a corner, wearing VR goggles, surrounded by neglect and decay. Wolves devour a fallen sheep, while the rest of the pack slaughters more behind them. In the center, a blood-stained sheep wears the skin of a wolf and eats along with them, attempting to convince the wolves he is one of them. The wolves are not fooled. A smirking oligarch drips oil from a completely saturated suit, standing knee-deep in water with an iridescent chemical film across the surface. He holds an expensive coffee in one hand, and a smartphone in the other. The screen illuminates him with a ghoulish glow. Around him float the oil-coated bodies of countless people, and in the distance an oil tanker billows black smoke. The sun is a flat red disc in a smoke-brown sky, and silhouetted against it is a mountain in the shape of a stock market crash. A hunting dog stands protectively over a family of pheasants, growling while her master lifts a shotgun. She disobeys his orders and her training. A flock of chickadees swoops around her, picking loose threads from her fluorescent orange hunting collar to free her from it.

He's a toddler with a loaded gun. It's not the toddler that's scary.

God he is such a toddler

The Senate has just passed the military NDAA containing 2 anti-trans provisions: a surgery ban using federal funds (dependents too), and a sports ban on military academy spaces.

This will be the STARTING point for negotiations with the House, which has even worse provisions.

Only 20 Dems opposed.

Anyway, I hope I'm not imposing my experience here. I'm glad you're writing about it.

But ultimately, parenting is not fundamentally a gendered experience, it's a caregiving experience. And that has a whole host of devalued, invisible labor dynamics which aren't talked about enough. That genderless labor is overwhelmingly gender segregated in society and that needs to be unpacked.
eranfowler.bsky.social
And you're right, it can be difficult to parse how much of one's motivations and reflexes are conditioned by AGAB. I noticed cishetnormative dynamics arising in divisions of labor which we both had to actively work to overcome.

Personally, I saw it as an opportunity to be the kind of man and father I wanted to see in the world. But I also struggled with the ways that everyone around me acted like I was following a regressive kind of motherhood, not a progressive kind of fatherhood, or a nonbinary parenthood.

🙋🏻 If you're looking for input, I'm a nonbinary trans man who chose to carry two kids with my cis male partner. I think it's totally valid to lean into those questions in your writing, because they do arise in complicated ways.

I mean, I'm the pot calling out the kettle here

The Atlantic—one of the most prolific corporate media outlets in America—attacked me, my values, & my advocacy. And they got most everything wrong.

Here is my rebuttal. I doubt they’ll issue a retraction, but my receipts are undeniable. Please share and boost.❤️✊🏽

It’s a "crisis" when immigrants "take jobs away", but "innovation" when machines do. Funny.

#Comics folks, I need you to pull up to this one.

The world sucks right now, and we have the opportunity to do a little bit of good for a displaced and marginalized member of our community. Please join me in supporting this KS campaign!

If you're somebody who values supporting marginalized voices in comics, here's your chance to put your money where your values are!

The writer of this RINGO NOM’D INDIE COMIC (and a very dear friend of mine) is a Syrian Refugee who has been through more continuous hardships than I have space to list here; constantly navigating visa applications, unstable living conditions, predatory landlords (limited options as a refugee).

Anas just wants to make comics and live a normal life like what so many of us take for granted. Backing this campaign will help Anas to take the next step toward freedom and autonomy, helping to fund a move to another country with more stable employment options. This is truly one of the most important comics purchases you will ever make.

Middle Eastern and North African comics creators are some of the most underrepresented in the comics industry of the western world. Anas isn’t running a GoFundMe to support this move, and is not asking for charity. Simply, Anas is using their talent for storytelling, along with Dennis’ gorgeous art, to offer you a beautiful experience in the comics medium, that also goes toward funding a better life for Anas.

I’m so proud of Anas, and humbled by their experiences and perseverance. I would like to see Anas’ Dream realized, and I’d love to see this community help to make that happen. Please join me in pledging to the Etheres Kickstarter campaign! (link below). Etheres cover B

When labeling and grouping your layers is no longer enough, and you find yourself also color coding them, it might be time to reassess

Seriously. Just give provide an edit history, and a short timer to prevent bad faith edits. 99% of all edits are for typos or clarifying word choices.

I've heard that such cases are prosecuted internally and tend not to see the light of day, so if it's happening the only way we'd hear about it is if bystanders witness and record it happening. So 🤷🏼‍♂️

Something about this whole business reminds me of the ontological argument: "I can conceive of it, therefore it exists." It's like they think being unable to distinguish between thought and reality is the same thing as proof. Feels=reals.
