@backtothenewbasics.bsky.social Hi Joe! Longtime fan here, and have recently made a career switch into horticulture. Yay! I'm managing a small local garden center and am struggling to find wholesalers for the seeds and plants I want to encourage my neighbors to plant. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Got a job managing a garden center! And we had a truly adorable plant tag theft occur yesterday. 😂🥰🌱

Made a seed start guide for myself, with the seedlings I'll be seeing soon. Love having it up while I'm weeding! Wasn't planning to share, so didn't fix it when I saw cosmos were there twice. It seemed like something others might like and I have zero impulse control, though, so here we are. 😁🌱

Peonies are emerging. Tempted to make comments about how excited they look but I'll censor myself. 🌱

Happy 2nd birthday, Izzy! I promised him I would take the hat off of him the second after I snapped the photo and I did. Sorry, buddy. Thank you for putting up with me. 🙊

Apropos of nothing, I caught myself saying to someone, "I'm really into mycorrhizal fungi right now," and I feel like that's the extent of my social skills these days. 🤦🏻‍♀️ #mastergardeners #gardening 🌱

Mark Beaumont describes beautifully everything I'm thinking and feeling about Kendrick Lamar's Superbowl halftime show performance.

My main takeaway from Super Bowl ads is how old some of these celebrities have gotten.

New thing for me: Wine spritzes. Fun to play with when all you can afford is shit wine.

3 oz wine
1 oz any vermouth
2+ oz any seltzer

Sweet vermouth adds warmth, richness, and mild sweetness with herbal depth. Dry vermouth adds a crisp botanical dryness. I'm using red wine, but you do you.

Now here's a post I can get behind. Many huzzahs to the writer of this brilliance.
I'm pretty high but I think Monty don is the anti elon musk and if you ever got them to touch Monty would just annihilate elon with the result being a spectacularly dense and fragrant dahlia

Saturday marks six years since the Great Kale Outage. 'Twas a sad day for Portland. There's snow in the forecast this week, but it seems we've been better behaved during subsequent weather events. Apparently we just buy out hard liquor now.

It’s the 5-year anniversary of the snowstorm that sold out kale across Portland
One thing about Portlanders is that, even under the duress of an oncoming storm, they will always find a way to keep it weird. Why was all the kale missing?

I'm incapable of saying it better than this.
my brain is just in deadlock trying to decide whether to worry about musk seizing control of the federal financial systems, white supremacy being named the national religion, tariffs killing our economy, canada getting designated as a national enemy, or the total lack of an opposion party

I finished my first pansy. I felted the petals and then embroidered. Just to calm my mind.

A pansy study because, as my mom always used to say, “I don’t know why they use pansy as an insult, they’re the toughest flower there is.”

May we all be as strong as pansies throughout this storm
