In the intro to Flashman author George MacDonald Fraser’s book on the border reivers, he notes being inspired by a US political moment in the 1960s where Richard Nixon, Billy Graham & Robert McNamara were on stage together. He realized those were the surnames of the 3 most feared border clans.

Wonderful film. Another must see is Tender Mercies. I love redemption stories where the universe, in response to the hero’s journey, is indifferent at best, vengeful at worst.

S. Mpls resident here. They’ve definitely changed tactics, but they’re still here. I think the word from on high is no more public executions, at least for now. They are more present in the suburbs, where resistance is more diffuse. They also travel in smaller convoys, making them harder to spot.

I saw it in the theater too, with my date who would become my wife. I was so freaked out I asked if I could crash at hers that night. Now you can watch it anytime of day on tv.
