Here's a comparison shot of the Human Union ships as originally printed, versus the 25% larger versions that I printed as test pieces for possible release as #VBAM miniatures. You can see where the original sizes are meant to allow the ships to fit more reasonably into available hex space.

Here's another pic of the ships when they were still waiting to be cured, along with some prospective ship prices based on the amount of resin required to print them and their support materials. Larger ships cost more due to more material, while the escorts are extremely cheap.

And here's a mix of "Human" ships from two different settings. The metal ship in the middle is a Union Monitor, with an identical 3d printed version just above it, and then an improved version above that. I think I need to separate the guns from the new version.

Here's a picture of some of the Sshel'ath ships, showing a mix of the old metal and new 3d printed versions on a 1.25" hex map for scaling purposes. The metal miniatures we did 20 years ago, whereas most of these 3d printed ones are "new" models that next got released in the old days.

The test prints for the new #VBAM Carrier Wars supplement arrived! Everything looks pretty good on a first pass. The spine text on the perfectbound version maybe a little big, but it's not a big deal. Will have to integrate the errata/typo fixes from the fans and get things ready to fulfill orders!

I got some of my #Babylon5 Civilian and Raider ships painted the other day, after finally getting successful test prints off the latest set of models! Here is a Civilian Freighter, Civilian Tanker, and Raider Schooner. The Schooner has 12 Delta-V fighters docked to it, similar to the Strike Carrier.

Pardon the harsh lighting, but some #3dprint tests of some #WingCommander Armada ships and fighters. The Dralthi (0712) and Jrathek (0713) both need to be increased in size, and I think the Wraith (0612) needs to be a bit smaller. Otherwise, I think this was a pretty successful test!

Lastly, here is the Kilrathi Goran heavy fighter. This model is slightly cursed because I had to do some tweaking to make it look generally like the artwork I had available. Then I realized at the end that I'd mismodeled the back end of the ship, and that it needed vertical fins. I fixed as I could.

Next is the Confed Phantom fighter. I think it was a medium fighter, but I can't remember now. I had to do some adjustments on this one since the silhouettes I had look nothing like the angled model, so I modeled what I could top down and then stretched the whole thing before finalizing the model.

A few more #WingCommander fighters to share. Up first is the Confed Arrow light fighter. I couldn't get it looking exactly right, but I think it's close enough that you can tell what it is. The nose may be too pointy and prone to breaking once printed, but a test print should tell me for sure.

And here is my rendition of the Jrathek. Not perfect, and I did take some liberties with the hull in the interests of getting its proportions so that it could be printed.

It is strange that the WC2 Jrathek is stretched compared to the squatter Armada version. I went with the Armada version here.

Here's a look at the very subtle panels I added to the Dralthi, along with a version where I applied some color to the layers for a bit of extra definition and contrast.

Suffered from a bout of insomnia two nights ago, so last night I spent part of the evening working on some more #Kilrathi #WingCommander models to try and unwind. Decided to just knock out the rest of the Wing Commander Armada models.

I think the Dralthi needs some more hull panel lines, though!

#Kilrathi #WingCommander #3dprinted pics of the painted 3d models I did of the Shiraak light fighters and Shok'lar fighters. I still need to do some more touch ups on the Shiraak and paint some more paneling details on the bottom, but they are all pretty much table ready now.

Warmer weather means an opportunity to get some more walking done outside. I didn’t quite get 10 miles in, but pretty close. You can see how dry it is here this winter. Just hardly any snow. Fire season this summer is going to be rough.

I gave the Fast Freighter a series of little piping nubs on the top and bottom for extra visual interest, and because I thought that might help it tie into some of the older EA ships, such as the Orestes Dreadnought/System Monitor that has some similar features on its engine section (albeit bigger).
January 31, 2026 at 6:32 PM
Speaking of the Civilian Fast Freighter, here it is! It was clear it was supposed to have two more main thrusters that matched the original, so it was then a case of figuring out how to mount those. I opted for a rounded housing to better mate to the main body.
January 31, 2026 at 6:32 PM
The Raider Xebec is another Fast Freighter conversion, but this time the forward pods are converted so each carries a medium laser in addition to the standard particle beam. This is one of the Raider's better ships in the #Babylon5Wars tabletop game due to the wide arcs on those medium lasers.
January 31, 2026 at 6:32 PM
The Raider Felucca is a conversion of the civilian Fast Freighter, ripping out part of the forward cargo pods to make room for an extra pair of standard particle beams.
January 31, 2026 at 6:32 PM
The Raider Wolf Commerce Raider also got converted from the civilian freighter parts. This ship mounts particle cannons and beams in four pods, and convert another two into makeshift hangars. I had to make the guns larger here to exaggerate them for better printing and readability on the game table.
January 31, 2026 at 6:32 PM
The #Babylon5 Raider Schooner, a conversion of the Civilian Tanker. This ship gained two laser cannons on the side, and I opted to also mount the two particle beam turrets the class is supposed to have. I then stole the external fighter rails from the Strike Carrier to use for its 12 fighter mounts.
January 31, 2026 at 6:32 PM
And here is the #Babylon5 Civilian Tanker, which is a remix of the various Civilian Freighter parts. I opted to make the four connection points solid, to give the ship some extra rigidity to to make the 3d printed version of the ship less susceptible to rapid structural integrity losses during play.
January 31, 2026 at 3:05 AM
#Babylon5 Civilian Freighter after some more rework, plus applying some layer colors to everything. A very simplified version of this ship, intended for #3dprinting. Everything is thicker than it should be, and I had to add lots of thick sections to make it printable. Engine also had to be bigger!
January 31, 2026 at 3:05 AM
Continuing in my #3dmodel spam, I had a thought for how to take the #StarFleetMuseum Romulan ship I was iterating on and introduce a cargo variant into the mix. Extended the rear hull and festooned it with cargo bays, and then integrated the cargo pod structures from the battleship version.
January 30, 2026 at 10:55 PM
...and here is an uprated #Babylon5 #Dilgar Thorun Heavy Fighter, with missiles added (that I stole from the Cascor Caltus!). I also went back in and added some hull paneling to the fighter, although when printing at 18mm those definitions are likely not going to be very visible on the final model.
