Our tap water is not as bad as it was when I posted this photo, but it still is not nearly clean. Half this city has been fed rust and manganese for years now, and we've been lied to about it. In any normal country this would be an emergency, but it's fine for the north side of Cork.

I lived in Venezuela and have friends there. The situation there is much more complex than most here understand, and history there didn't begin with Chavez. Fighting through a place like Petare which is the largest barrio in S. America with 500K people, and awash with weapons would be a bloodbath..

Not long ago, the lie that seeking asylum and being an illegal migrant are the same thing was the preserve of Nazis, Faragists and the extreme right of the Tories. Now a UK Labour minister - a barrister with a law degree from Oxford - is happy to do it. That's why UK Labour got this endorsement:

She knows - as do you - that seeking asylum and illegal migration are two entirely different things. Lying to our faces about that is the lowest point so far for your party, and that's why you're getting this stamp of approval.

As worthwhile as that is, the exponential increase in attacks on trans people in just one decade is a function of the environment created by government and media in the UK.

The success of the hate campaign against this minority group in the UK.
From being an obsession of fringe nutcases in 2010, today the bulk of the political class, media, and a large fraction of the population have been thoroughly radicalised and government captured. It's a remarkable achievement.
