Not a legal comment as such but this looks unsatisfactory from a policy perspective. It suggests that the political tactics of encouraging protests & whipping up fear, even if unjustified, can affect the decision (even if only of "limited weight").

No disagreement on that, though some were to an extent (Gearty's Fantasy Island was great on this).

It's such an old refrain, isn't it. It only sounds more discordant as we see globally the effect of withdrawing from international co-operation on these sorts of issues. Nothing in principle against common law protection of human rights - there's some good stuff - but both have their place.

Not usually, as keeping my posts from being overly long is already a struggle, but we always link to the judgment on Bailii and that sets out representation (sols & counsel) at the top of the page, so the info isn't too far away.
