I'd love a copy of that, but you seen how much it's going for on eBay?

Weird print ad from that insecure period in gaming where being as good/worthy as films was considered an end goal for the medium.
Halo 2 print ad: 'From November 11, movies won't matter anymore.'

Haven't touched a new game in a month.

Been playing a lot of Virtua Tennis 2 on the PS2 (actual masterpiece, one of the best-feeling games ever made) and apparently it's been almost 15 years since the last proper game in that series? Failed civilisation.

Mission accomplished. The swirly time orbs have returned.
A PlayStation 2 on a desk in the early phases of being dismantled. More bits removed, including the fan and power supply. The EMOTION ENGINE, stripped bare, leaking its emotions out into the world. The swirly orbs, indicating a successfully replaced CMS battery.

PS2 system clock keeps resetting to 01/01/2000, so today's project is dismantling the entire console, because Sony made it really difficult for some reason, and replacing the CMOS battery.

Here's that photo of Bez playing Cool Boarders 3 you were asking for.

Found another R4 press kit. A lot of the same stuff, but a few new renders and... a layered PSD of the PAL box art?!

Skin Deep is still my favorite game I've played this year. And yes, it is VERY funny. It's also a fantastic distillation of immersive sim mechanics into bite-sized levels that are so replayable. Also it's very funny.

This is peak baffling turn-of-the-millennium video game print ad.
A two-page print ad for Devil May Cry featuring a mixer and a man's head where the bowl would typically be. No, I dunno either.

They're perfect recreations of the finished levels, so I think they made them especially for this.

The Japanese Mario 64 official strategy guide is an incredible thing. "Can we make little hand-made dioramas of all the levels?" "Sure, why the hell not."
