Here's the rest of the discussion that inspired me to log in to fucking blue sky and vent my spleen to nobody - I truly and honestly don't understand the lack of critical thinking here.

Do you think people largely do things for aesthetics or does it occur to you that there might be actual values + ideas at play? If I want to boycott Amazon, do you think it's because it's fun to be contrarian, or is it because of their obscene labor practices and corporate stranglehold on the world?

I am desperately begging anybody who is regurgitating this idea to ask WHY punk was anti-establishment in the first place. Do you think people were blindly railing against the status quo for no reason, or do you think they were pushing back against harmful and oppressive systems and ideas?

There are some incredibly vital issues at this moment in time that go beyond like, oh we disagree on marginal tax rates but we can still be friendly. Trans rights are one of those issues. Trans rights are human rights and those are not negotiable. (see also: genocide; fascism. not unrelated!)
