There was so much effort put into that game by so many people,to really elevate it beyond its predecessor. It has so many new and original things,only for people to look past all that just because it uses the same basic map - Someting that enriches the game just as much if not more than it hurts it.

Doesn't surprise me too much to see that he's pro-AI. TIME magazine probably paid him a lot of money too, I'm sure that helped. I assume they think they're breaking some sort of new ground with this but I don't think anything will make TIME relevant again.

I was thinking this too. I assume for now they really don't want to have to change characters' sizes, especially not to make them smaller, to be sidekicks - Spongebob sidekick is actually quite a bit bigger than the character canonically is, lol

This definitely is sunk costs because since development restarted before the second trailer BG&E2 is now this extremely ambitious space sim MMO thing. The tech used is probably still pretty impressive and they think it can still make money if they finish it. That's the most important thing to them.

I'm fairly certain this character is inspired by "Gust", Philip Seymour Hoffman's role in Charlie Wilson's War. They look nearly exactly alike, but this inspiration has never been mentioned by Swery and hasn't been speculated anywhere online by anyone other than me, as far as I know.
