Kinglet Mosaic

I watched a ruby-crowned kinglet (Corthylio calendula) flit through the tall oak tree in my backyard, weaving in and out of the branches with quiet precision. Its small frame blended seamlessly with the autumn leaves, which are just beginning to turn—green giving way to amber.
