Dropping in to third the motion to have you read the book and its sequels, hopefully these two book vs movie depictions helps sell it 🥰
A vertical comparison of Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. The first panel is the movie version, in which he appears more dreamy with a softer expression. He is gently saying "I've been looking for you everywhere." The second panel is the book version, in which Howl is dressed more like a fuckboy bard and has an almost punchable face. A vertical comparison of the relationship between Howl and Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle. The first panel depicts the airwalking scene in the movie, with them both smiling while Howl holds Sophie close. His hands are clasped sweetly over hers as he guides her across the air. The second panel depictd the same scene but from the book, to disastrous effect. Sophie is pointing at Howl angrily as the bicker, the wind whipping around them. It is clear that Howl is trying and failing to bridal-carry Sophie, awkwardly crouched with a hand on her back. It's clear he cares but golly are they going to argue the whole time
