My supervisor switched from *suggesting* to **telling** us to take the AI course.

I wrote a short essay on why I was refusing.

Good news is I’m not in trouble.

And I’m using the conversation as an opportunity to advocate for curriculum on fact checking & detecting misinformation in AI summaries.
AI is being pushed on NYC nonprofits through some insidious city grants.

Silver lining is there was a survey for feedback.

Here’s the survey link!

The makers of #Ihunt are asking for support against an AI movie that appears to be using bot votes.
We were in first place in this film award voting.

A film made purely with AI just netted over 150 votes in 12 hours.

Now it's personal.

Please. Help us kick this THING's ass fair and square. ART FOR ARTISTS.

Say "fuck you" to AI slop with a vote for iHunt in the next 92 minutes!
We’re about 150 votes in the lead. Less than 3 hours left.

I think we got this. Any further votes are just a bigger fuck you to the AI slop merchant.

I'm tagging @indieshortsmag.com on this one because I want them to see how actual artists are fighting against a bot army that made slop.

Indie Shorts Magazine? You should ban AI. It makes an unfair competition, and it degrades the integrity of the medium.

The funniest part is that the whole point of funding the crusades was to send your potential sources of domestic political instability (loud, violent lunatics) off on a mission where, worst case scenario, they were out of your hair for several years or, best case scenario, they died.
Far-right groups are co-opting the aesthetics of the Crusades for their own objectives, transforming an obsession with feudal justice into a campaign for a White Christian nation.
Why We Should All Be Worried About "Crusadercore"
This online trend equips young, White men with a historically bastardized visual lexicon — one that gives new credence and religious authority to far-right bigotry.

Furthermore, every time you de-prioritize a trans actor because of that identity (keeping them out of roles because you're worried they're too "political"), you've discriminated against that actor. Period.

The shift from "sir this is a Wendy's" to "just put the fries in the bag" indicates a cultural rightward shift; whereas the former is making fun of someone by implying they're a customer doing too much, the latter is making fun of someone by implying they're a *worker* & should know their place

We have one day left to put them in the ground.

So let's blow them the fuck out.

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

Tech platforms censor words, not meaning. It’s frighteningly insidious. This kind of censorship explicitly empowers bad actors by robbing their critics of the language to criticize.

Euphemisms are often the domain of fascists and predators. It’s a domain that online media wants to gate us inside.
