I'm Marin M. Miller, a voice actor, writer, and vocal technique specialist that been working in anime and games since my first booking in 2006! Here are a few of my most well-known titles--do you know them all?

That scream at the end, though....
I figured it out, I know what my Brísingamen is, it's a dick, okay bye

Yep, pretty much. Even in the face of quantifiable evidence to the contrary.

And folks this is why even if you choose not to be in a union--for whatever reason--you still owe your co-workers solidarity. The discussions were, seemingly, bcomparing salaries and talking about a company policy change to their slack server. Someone went to management and got 34 people fired.
PMG understands Rockstar became aware of these messages after at least one non-union member of the server raised concerns about these discussions with management and this either kicked off, or contributed to, a wider investigation.

EXCLUSIVE: So far it's been unclear what proof Rockstar Games has to justify its firing of 34 union members, who it claims were leaking "confidential information in a public forum".

PMG has now seen some of the messages which contributed to this decision being made.

The little pet rocks in Valheim that breed if you place them together had something to say.

Pretty consistent across film, too. I've been holding talks about this exact topic on the convention circuit since 2013 and the numbers haven't changed much.

And that the way I naturally express my feelings would therefore not be feminine.
November 22, 2025 at 9:05 PM
Speaking as someone who is non-binary, it is incredibly uncomfortable to be hired on a project and limited to a singular expression of femininity that is not naturally occuring to me. I'm all for collaboration, but it also feels insulting to pretend like I am not feminine.

It wasn't until I removed gender that I understood where I fit as an actor.

It wasn't until I suffered through the strike that I understood exactly what perspective I have to offer as an actor that others don't.

I am resilient. Life is changing. I will continue to learn and grow, even if it hurts.

Yanking* not tanking
November 22, 2025 at 8:31 PM
We've seen a tanking up of pitch in feminine roles. When their only purpose is attractiveness to 18-25 year old men, there's much less range in what those characters are. So anyone who doesn't have a squeaky girl voice gets passed over. There are female baritones. We don't hear them.
November 22, 2025 at 8:31 PM
I think part of it is that the female characters that are written usually are there for the purpose of fulfilling a love interest role, which requires them to have a certain kind of desirability at all times. Rage is not attractive to men that create these stories unless they are performing it.

I learned that my pattern of speech was commonly interpreted as angry when I was going for intense or playful, so I have been shooed away from anger like it was a building on fire. But I want to play in the flames....
November 22, 2025 at 1:03 AM
I hope one day, I get to step into a character that lets me explore rage.

Feminine identities aren't often allowed that--it's usually discouraged. And most of my work has been variations of cold neutrality, or angst. I want a writer to ALLOW me to be angry. To challenge me to face and embrace it.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

psst, no one is struggling with this - we are trying to create singular things that resonate with a huge audience or resonate hugely with a specific audience. We "struggle" with how tech and VC funding has broken almost every creative economy we have. So thanks but no thanks
