Musician/writer/pop culture junkie. Probably way too invested in things. May contain traces of socialism.

Not only did they enjoy having the fawning hype, the industry enjoyed having the reactionary crowd as an attack dog who'd go after reviewers and publications for not giving high enough scores, and this is what that crowd metastasised into. An audience that actively despises the medium itself.

Not since the initial release of Cyberpunk 2077 have I seen a beloved developer burn through good will faster.

Yes, but it re-introduced by Neo-Nazis from West Germany, who moved to the East after reunification.

Turns out if you crush an economy largely built around public ownership and sell it for scraps to big corporations, that leaves a great breeding ground for fascism.

Ideally this would have been the moment to shift course at least slightly towards a more equal society for reasons of self preservation alone

But since our elites can no longer imagine a world that's systematically any different They would rather bang their heads against the wall of reality forever

Ever since the 80's all ideological convictions beyond perpetuating the machine have been largely sandblasted off our establishment. And since that machine has always run on exploitation at all levels, it shifting towards straight up fascism once the myth of perpetual growth collapsed was inevitable

Meanwhile my Steam Deck has become the dedicated Indie machine my Switch 1 used to be. Just with a gigantic library and controllers made for human hands.

I don't think I've ever used a console less than my Switch 2. So far for 90% of its runtime it has been a Donkey Kong machine.

I just bought it at launch because I'm sure at some point Nintendo will release some games for it and I knew it would only get more expensive over time.

As someone who believes the break with the US could result in a boon for European alternatives I will need them to not suck this fucking much

Stellar Blade was copying Yoko Taro's homework so much (and so poorly) that this seems like the logical next step.
