Please learn from US media mistakes:

1. Dumbed down, appealing to those seeking validation, not info/analysis
2. Alienated those used to info/analysis
3. Became pawns: spread propaganda instead of news
4. Facilitated election of wannabe dictator - twice.

Result:

Current US politcal hellscape.

Just a shout out to NHS England staff today. Horrible day for everyone. And let's remember: NHSE isn't just policy and "duplicated services". They support data reporting & interpretation, NetZero, and highly skilled improvement support across the NHS. So who is going to do this now? Big loss!

There are more people enjoying themselves *and* supporting the businesses here than there would be if the road had been open. People take up less space than cars and use it better.
Charing Cross Road, pedestrianised today. Glorious. Because whenever you take cars away, cities get better.

Further proof Shell have no intention of transitioning.

“Sawan has sought to improve financial performance by ‘simplifying’ Shell’s approach to the energy transition.”

“That involves… re-emphasising the oil and gas business and trimming less profitable parts of the company’s low-carbon portfolio.”

Important that we don't let the situation in the Middle East distract attention (and divert resources) from the war in Ukraine.
The world has forgotten Russia's war in Ukraine before. Ukrainians remember — and will not let it happen again.

I wrote for @financialtimes.com about how Ukrainians are fearful of losing support and being forgotten again as the global gaze shifts to the Israel-Hamas war.

Newspaper coverage of heat pumps in the UK increased significantly over the last 6 years. But at the same time the share of negative articles on heat pumps has increased with 55% printed this year being negative.

Great analysis by CREDS.

Negativity is not by accident. desmog.com/2023/07/20/r...
