Sarcastic book lover, maker, and irrepressible electronics tinkerer. Exploring CNC anything, designing circuit boards, being dragged kicking and screaming into coding and raising unique kiddos. Currently on a mission to ignore politics and make cool stuff!
It amuses me to no end to rock up to work carrying this science experiment looking lunch

YES! I bought a 16 year old ZM400 label printer to replace my hated QL1100. The brother QL1100 has awful linux drivers, tries to lock you into their labels and is stupid expensive. Someone pointed out these older ZM400 workhorses so I picked one up cheap on ebay. It is exactly everything I want.

Watching movies while I work on stuff today. Just finished Grand Torino and now I'm going to watch its complete opposite movie; El Camino.

I tried Forge-X on my AD5M and so far its been a really good experience. Its nice to have all my old klipper interfaces back. Missing those on the AD5M made it feel a little stifling to me. The install process was very trivial #3dprinting #ad5m

These little reflow plates punch well above their weight! Very useful for fixing little issues.

I am stupid excited to play with this thermal printhead. The datasheet even lists what connector can be used to connect to the ribbon cable!

After the panic buying of 3d printers then Defcon I'm finally getting around to putting together the Manufacturing Nook (need a better name for it). This is probably the only time it will be this clean for the foreseeable future. 😂

Not every sword needs to be brooding and dark. Perfect for defending Equestria and your network! I love this color experiment for the Neosword badge—regular versions available for preorder at untitledelec.com. Preorders will have first dibs on color options. #Defcon33 #defcon #badgelife

Fresh from the forge: a box of Neosword hilts ready to power up your Defcon badge! May or may not grant +5 charisma. Preorder here! untitledelec.com #DEFCON #BadgeLife #SwordUp

The NeoSword is a totally over-the-top interactive SAO totem that lights up and makes noise every time you move it. Swing it, spin it, show off your best (questionable) sword skills. Powered by MicroPython and 4 AA batteries, it’s fully hackable and just waiting for you to break, uh, “customize” it.

I can FINALLY show off the full badge! Introducing the NeoSword! untitledelec.com/products/def...

Here is a little teaser for my upcoming indy #defcon33 #badgelife badge! If you can guess the final form I'll give you a free SAO at the convention!

WAHOO! Its always amazing to me how happy a simple blinking LED can make me! The built in S2 works brilliantly to program the CH32V006

Woot! Finally assembled this CH32V006 Nucleo-style dev board! I've been excited to try this one out. #wch #Risc-V #Devboard

Oh man! This is exciting! This really feels like an actual product to me! V2 of my USB-C PD to Chinese PSU module adapter. Now I need to redesign the front plate (blue plastic) and finish the rest of the case.

Holy shit, Paychex.com. Why on gods green earth is there a link to a paycheck loan app ON MY PAYSTUBS PAGE?! Your emails explaining my 'benefits' which are actually advertisements for 3rd party insurance are bad enough but this is RAGE INDUCING! Why can I not opt out of this shit?!

It works! I wanted a super simple USB-C PD supply for these cheap ($30) RK6006 buck power supply modules for when I needed a power supply away from my bench.

Now onto designing a 3d printed case. Probably no parts for at least a week.

Number THREE!
This one is to test an idea for an upcoming badge. I need enough Capacitive Touch pins for an entire keyboard. Since I'm locked into an ESP32 for this one I need to multiplex the pins to get enough. There is prior art but I need to test this for myself.

My #nerdsnipe of the day. What is the weirdest thing I could possibly do with a Toaster Controller IC?
January 2, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Number two down!
This PCB is a USB-C PD adapter board for the RK6006 PSU board. I would really like to have a small PSU I can throw in a bag that runs off the same USB-C charger as my laptop and pinecil.

I got a week off for the Holidays, lets see how many boards I can crank out in that time. I have SOOO many projects that I want to make progress on so its time for a marathon!

First up a tester board for a PWM3389 Optical Mouse Sensor paired up with a CH32V003

It's always amazing seeing something designed on a computer screen in hand. This clamp is a simple USB to serial adapter and also works for programming ESP32. I'm working on STM32 and CH32 versions. It needs refinement but this idea works!

Woot! Finally got around to designing this! A pogo pin clamp programming jig! The circuit boards have been sitting on my desk for months!

Well, shit.

The jump from V0.21 to V1 was huge for usability! Another big change from me was moving to the openTheme. Its in the addon manager, then select it in settings and apply the OpenPreferences preference pack. These make a huge quality of life improvement.
