Thinking about refactoring the entirety of Voxelius once again for the next release. I want to merge in some features from a bunch of experimental projects into the game and make it somewhat of an engine...

Speaking of which. Who THE FUCK decided to sprinkle cellular towers around a place where EVERY HOUSE used an active TV antenna is beyond me.

And most importantly, that someone decided to put the towers in a direct line of sight where ALL THE TV ANTENNAS ARE ORIENTED.

As one can imagine, federal holidays in Russia (which this new year went from 2024-12-30 up to 2025-01-08 which is still today in Moscow) were kind of hard on my consciousness.

At least I got to walk my granddad's dog for two days out of city. And enjoy the snowy first on the way

Didn't expect to ever hate... Sitting at home? Ever since I got a job, any kind of free day streak longer than saturday-sunday feels like a mental torture.

I finally re-made Voxelius CMake scripts and source code to utilize precompiled headers. The entire project (including dependency libraries plus GLFW) now compiles in 41 seconds.

Take source engine for example. It has been optimized to run on a single-core Pentium and it still definitely performs semi-decently on modern hardware as well. Every source shader is pre-compiled and has NO BRANCHING! Like AT ALL

I re-played through Half-Life 2 and episodes during the anniversary and I really want to say this.

I may be delusional but its really sad that times of non-streamlined game development have passed.

Most game studios and/or groups/people use game engines instead of making their own
