Dr Oliver Russell, 1936-2025

We are saddened to share the news that Dr Oliver Russell -
co-founder and first director of @bristoluni.bsky.social's renowned Norah Fry Centre for Disability Studies - died on 25 July.

A new research project funded by Defra aims to help tackle violence against women and girls.

The study, led by academics at SPS, will explore the interconnection between the abuse of animals by domestic abuse perpetrators and domestic abuse-related homicide-suicide.

Our second keynote at #ICFC2025 was James Bury (Interim MD, CoramBAAF, UK), who gave a powerful overview of the care system landscape in England.

He explored pressures from foster care recruitment and retention to post-adoption contact and the challenges of multi-agency collaboration.
