Happy May the 4th everyone!

Scopey, our nmRC Jedi Archivist, has been looking through our past imaging and found this SEM image to celebrate.

Enjoy this Calcium Iron Oxide microsphere imaged by Dr Luke Woodliffe using the @jeoleurope.bsky.social 7000F SEM. Remind you of anything...?

🌟What a way to celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science - with electron microscopy outreach! 🔬

The Under the Microscope LIVE team were proud to be part of the Nottinghamshire Festival of Science and Curiosity today at the Council House, inspiring the next generation of scientists!

As part of our new Royal Society of Chemistry public engagement initiative Under the Microscope LIVE, we visited South Nottinghamshire Academy to showcase SEM imaging to a group of Y12 scientists.

One of the items imaged was a fossilised Mosasaur tooth, which was found in Morocco.

🌕🐍 Happy #LunarNewYear 2025 – Year of the Snake! 🐍🌕

To celebrate, the team explored the microstructures of adder skin and fangs using the FEI Quanta 650 and JEOL 6060 SEMs. Nicola Weston and Dr. Tom Hartman captured these stunning images, showcasing the precision and adaptability of nature.

🦕 #ElectronMicroscopy ...uh...finds a way! 🦕

We are getting ready for our first #UndertheMicroscopeLIVE session with South Nottinghamshire Academy. One suggestion was a shark tooth, however, we hope they will be just as excited for a 65 million year old fossilised Mosasaur tooth!
