At no point in the story does he do the right thing by anyone. He never turns down table tennis. He never shows any generosity. The only “benevolent” thing he does is go home and see his child and girlfriend. Low bar, lol

Maybe.. but now he has no money, no championship, no place to live, and a family to feed. The logical way for him to make money would be to continue playing table tennis. Which is how he promised hed repay everyone. So i dont think we are given enough ammo as viewers to support a “changed” character

He doesnt achieve his dreams but also we are given no reason to believe he wont keep chasing them. why not just abandon his family and try again next year? he’s a total piece of shit and if anything, the exhibition match outcome will feed his obsession

I was on the same page and I caved because of some trusted recommendations. O’Leary’s performance adds nothing that someone else couldnt have done. Shoulda trusted my gut

This is my primary reason why Uncut Gems is just a superior movie. Also, we have no reason to believe Marty will have genuinely changed. He hasn’t even accomplished his explicit goal of becoming a champion! Why stop now?

i wouldnt advise anyone to skip on the first watch but i just did a rewatch and skipping all the james out of town and civil war sequences makes the second season infinitely easier to watch
