I was active in XR for a while and still connected - I think maybe it’s attractive to people who want one clear answer and one clear course of action - whereas politics and social change are messy and incremental and you just have to keep trying

In fairness I don’t think she is saying society will completely collapse? Also in fairness I think some of the optimism vs pessimism stuff is temperamental rather than intellectual. But you are so right that people can do this stuff without giving up on politics and advocacy!
