What scares me the most - in the US and pretty much everywhere - is the silence (or often, even worse, the direct support) of those ones that are supposed to be the moderates, the genuine conservatives, the centre.

These are likely the sneaky enemies world democracies will have to face.

1. There has been a major effort by that old combination – big business and the far right – to diss foods derived from plants. The meat lobby invests big time in misinformation. And the far right hates “soyboys”, while associating itself with red meat-eating. It's a match made in hell. 🧵

"In its manifesto, Labour promised “to restore and protect our natural world” and “to unlock the building of homes … without weakening environmental protections”. Well, I guess you could argue it isn’t weakening them. It’s deleting them."
It's hard to get your head around the scale of the environmental vandalism the Labour government is hoping to unleash. The Planning and Infrastructure Bill is up there with Trump's executive orders. And the reason is the same: corporate power.

Wish these international connections among radical socialists (at least is what they would be defined in the US) would have happened before.

Radical (and in this case it means extremist) right has been creating these connections for a while, and it helped shaping its fortune.

Why didn't we?
I had the opportunity to meet with Alexis Tsipras, the former Prime Minister of Greece, to discuss the importance of international cooperation to protect the working class, fight oligarchy, and save our planet from the ravages of climate change.
