1. In a devastating new Pew Research Survey, only 3 in 10 transgender adults report being accepted by their parents.

And only 1 in 10 say they are accepted by their extended family.

This is the lowest number ever found in surveys asking similar questions.

Pew Survey: Only 31% Of Trans People Report Being Accepted By Their Parents
The survey comes as transgender people experience a legal assault from the far-right in the United States.

I wrote a thing about how this split the MMR up into monovalents is bullshit that Andrew Wakefield cooked up. It will be used to strip access to the MMR.

The MAHA movement continues to destroy public health.

I'm on the record saying that Russ Vought will do things during the shutdown that will make his illegal rescissions visible in the way they otherwise weren't. And boy howdy, threatening to ignore the law on backpay is a great example. [corrected]
Shaheen, a retiring Dem Rs are looking to flip on shutdown, says of OMB threats on back pay:

“It would be a lot easier to resolve the situation if Russ Vought would stop talking.”

NEW: Trump vented this weekend after a judge he appointed ruled his troop deployment to Portland was illegal. It’s the latest in a growing list of his own judicial appointees who have dealt him defeats on some the highest profile issues of the year. www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

My new op-ed with @lkfazio.bsky.social:

Trump sent a 'compact' to our universities. They should reject this devil's bargain.
Any institution that yields to these broad and intrusive demands would forever be subservient to the whims of the government.

Continuing my tour of books I should have already read, Calling Bullshit by @carlbergstrom.com and @jevinwest.bsky.social. Just a delight - an accessible, entertaining, insightful look at various forms of BS. Much like Weapons of Math Destruction, would love a 2025 update of this one.

Many excellent points in this op-ed from @jeremymberg.bsky.social about how we scientists haven't stood up for our principles when the Trump administration attacked representation and diversity efforts.

We should stand up for what we believe in just like our brave federal worker colleagues.

I have been trying to get this published as an op-ed, but I am going to post it here since I think it is timely in light of the "consent" extortion events.

There is no evidence that breaking up the MMR shot would make the immunization safer or more effective.

The reason why the acting CDC director wants to separate the MMR shot is to discourage people from getting vaccinated by creating larger hurdles.
@HHS_Jim
Thank you
@POTUS
 for your leadership.

I call on vaccine manufacturers to develop safe monovalent vaccines to replace the combined MMR and “break up the MMR shot into three totally separate shots.”
