It does make you wonder about the people around him.

Did they genuinely think this was a good idea? Did they try to stop him but have no power? Or are they letting it play out hoping he damages himself so a successor can take over?

Is it actually a shortage of trains or maybe staff? Bit like when they say hospitals are short of beds - it normally means there aren’t the staff to cover more than a certain amount of beds rather than the physical bed

I also somehow managed to go out to the local bar after and get home at 2am sometimes then getting to work for an 8/9am double shift

Yeah but that’s the thing - the wages rarely are. Waitressing got me through uni and my a levels - my pay meant I could just about survive. Tips meant I didn’t have to do every shift going and could live/study. It’s bloody hard work too. Never was I skinnier and did more steps per day.

But to be clear - my choice, should never be mandatory in hotels. Only time it was added automatically was when I waitresses for tables of 6+ because the more people, the harder it is to serve them and you’d have less tables turned in your section. But they could always ask to take it off.

I left a tip (€10) at my hotel in Athens but then they’d been so so kind and helpful and even turned up with this for my birthday
